Branka Prpa was born on 5th of April 1953. in Split, Croatia. She graduated on Faculty of Phlosophy, History section. She had her P.h.d. in history, on Faculty of Philosophy, with theme “Yugoslavia as modern European state as viewed by Serbian intellectuals from 1918 to 1929”. She was a cultural editor of the news magazine “European” until it stopped publishing in 1999. because the owner, Slavko Curuvija, was murdered.
The first field of research consists of history of ideas from national integration processes in Slavs South in the first half of 19th century to history of ideas regarding making and defining the Yugoslav state in the first half of 20th century.
From this first field of reaserch, a great deal of theoretical and research works have been published, among other things a book “Serbo-dalmatian magazine-national ideas of Serbs in Dalmatia from 1836 to 1848”
The second field of research consists of history of ideas regarding Serbian intellectuals. From this field of research a various number of articles have been published.


Dr Branka Prpa rođena je 05. aprila 1953. godine u Splitu.
Diplomirala je na Filozofskom fakultetu u Beogradu, na grupi za istoriju.
Doktorirala na Filozofskom fakultetu u Beogradu u grupi za istoriju sa temom "Jugoslavija kao moderna država u viđenjima srpskih intelektualaca 1918-1929".
Radila u Institutu za noviju istoriju Srbije, bila direktor Istorijskog arhiva grada Beograda, a sada je opet zaposlena u Institutu za noviju istoriju Srbije.
Objavila niz stručnih i naučnih publikacija iz oblasti srpsko-hrvatskih odnosa, nacionalno integracijskih procesa na južno slovenskom prostoru I istorije ideja vezane za nastanak i trajanje jugoslovenske države.
